KIDNEY STORIES: BRONOSON’S BATTLE

Bronson is in End Stage Renal Failure and is in need of a kidney transplant.

Bronson was diagnosed at 17 weeks gestation with a condition called PUV, posterior urethral valves. His kidneys had already failed at that point and without amniotic fluid his lungs would not develop. We were then encouraged to terminate. Of course, we decided to fight for him! Bronson was born February 5, 2011 and was placed on a ventilator. He proved them wrong and was extubated by day 6! His lungs are very small and he does require oxygen from time to time. He began dialysis at 10 days old and continued with peritoneal dialysis until he was 16 months and then to hemodialysis up until transplant time. Bronson was transplanted on January 31, 2013. He received the Gift of Life from our Living Donor Hero Amanda Banister, his great aunt! Since transplant he has had a lot of complications but he is a fighter and soon this will all be behind us! We would like to thank all of you for your prayers and would also like to encourage everyone to become an organ donor. Organ donation saved Bronson’s life, and will save him several times as a transplant is not a cure for his disease. He will need several transplants throughout his life, so please, DONATE LIFE!!!!
