Description
Garry was born on August 27th, 1984; he was diagnosed at birth with Alports Syndrome.  Alphorts Syndrome is a heredity disease that runs in Garry’s family.  Alphorts Syndrome leads to N-Stage Renal Failure which requires dialysis or kidney transplantation.   Garry is now 28 years old.  Garry is married to his wife of 5 years Hailey Godfrey and they have 2 wonderful boys.  The oldest being Paul at …4 years old, and Brenton at 16 months old.  In 2006 Garry become ill at the young age of 22 years old.   In early 2007 Garry went on the list for a kidney transplant in Maine.  By February of 2010 Garry had started dialysis and is still currently on dialysis.  Garry is blood type A+ and can receive a kidney from donors with blood type A or O.  Garry does dialysis 3 days a week for 4 hours a day, and will continue to do so until he receives a kidney transplant.  If you are blood type A or O and you want to see if you can be a potential donor call The Maine Transplant Program located at 19 West Street in Portland, Maine at 1-800-870-5230 and ask for a living donor packet for Garry Godfrey.
